David, my OH, was very sweet putting everything around her.
I watched the end of the old Watership Down movie this morning. I've only seen it once before when I was a kid and it made me cry so much that I didn't want to watch it again. But I've been thinking about it since Roxy left us on Sunday - she spent most of the day doing her rabbit things until she was called away from us and fell asleep, like Hazell.
Jess spent a very happy day out in the garden, being very busy and coming running whenever she saw me. I'm used to seeing her lying down looking sulky but a few times when I looked out she was sitting up tall (like a cat) with her ears up. I've not seen her sit like that in years. Other times she was busy washing, eating hay or foraging about for leaves. Maybe she feels like she's won a victory and the garden is now hers. She's certainly not pining for her sister.

Only just read this criswell and am sorry for you and David's loss but what a life that bunny had! 9 years and going peacfully like that. You wrote that post so well and despite the sadness of her passing it actually made me smile to think what a lovely life Roxy had with you all RIP little one xx

Thank you for your lovely message samwiseg. I'm glad we were able to give Roxy such a happy life. Roxy and Jess were 7 months old when we got them as rescues and I don't think they'd ever been outside - they had no idea that they could eat grass and it took them a few weeks to realise it was food. I feel grateful that their previous owners gave them away so we could give them a better life. Roxy was such a funny, perky, often naughty rabbit who lived life to the full and I'm so glad to have known her.

They were and are obviously well-loved, and I agree with Sam; while sad that Roxy has departed this life, it was very clear that it really was a peaceful ending to a very happy and well-cared-for life. Typical sibling, hey? It is good, though, that Jess is not pining, even if she might just miss Roxy just a teeny bit .... sometime.

They did have a typical sibling relationship with lots of squabbles but Jess did enjoy getting her face groomed by Roxy. She did not enjoy sharing food with her. Eating is Jess's favourite pastime so she is probably happier that she doesn't have to share. At the moment she is enjoying eating all the food that falls off the bird table. I'm glad she's happy.
