Am I correct in thinking that a kakariki should not be housed in a budgie aviary? It is something I used to know the answer to, but have forgotten. Pretty sure the answer is not to house together!

A quick Google brought up some interesting facts about budgies. Apparently they are bullies and are likely to start a fight with a kakariki unless it is introduced slowly. That's as much as I have gathered. Got that info from a parrot forum. I didn't stay on it long as I was being bombarded with pop-ups.

Thanks OP, I'm in the process of finding homes for a friends birds who is having life changing health issues. I'm taking in her teil and budgies, kakariki and blue crown conure and fortunately in the last hour have found a home for the kakariki with an old friend all being well. (I'm short of space here as in a 1 bed flat) She has larger parrots who will eventually need rescue space.

My sympathies to your friend, it's good to have a friend such as you. It is tough when things like this come along and birds n need a home rather quickly. I take my hat off to you for taking the budgies and teil in. . Good luck with the others that need re-homing.

Thank you OP. Being too ill to look after your pets and having to rehome them is not something that anyone looks forward to and is actually a very scary thing to face. Most people are more worried for their pets than they are for themselves. Just very sad. I always had in mind that she would need some help at some point so ceased to take in any further rescues other than the odd budgie or 2 just in case. Just trying to make it as easy as poss for her.
