I don't know if any of you can remember what our chicken run looked like. I was pleased with it initially, but over the years, with the crazy weather we have had, it leaks like a sieve and gives the chooks no protection from the wind. The wind we had the other day is the worst one I have ever experienced, must have been at least 80 - 90 mph. This is the best reminder picture I can find: To this in a second by on Flickr However, because of the weather I have HAD to do something about keeping the chooks at least dry. So I found this guy, on line and he has been absolutely brilliant at re-hashing the run. New roof, more covered in sides and I am well pleased with it. Even the chickens have inspected, as soon as he had finished, and they approve!! With improved additions: roof and sides to the back and left: 20190319_130135 by on Flickr 20190319_130157 by on Flickr 20190319_130208-1 by on Flickr I am sooo pleased with the results and just had to share! With the curvy path I plan to plant camomile in between the slabs this year.

I'd go and sleep in there myself ... if I were a dog ... or a chook. It looks great and I bet the girlies will be happy chookies.

Thank you for all your comments. I must admit the run itself has been a problem for a number of years now, as to how to make it leak-proof and after paying out for a third roof I believe we have cracked it. I hope it isn't tested too soon as we have had some really atrocious weather recently, but of course only time will tell. On another note OP, eggs are few and far between at present! And now that Dusty is thinking of laying, she has been put on another two weeks of meds in which case, if she does lay, we have to discard her eggs for a whole month!!!

Shame about the eggs Shirls. I hope the roof lasts. Rhey are a funny thing to keep leakproof. The roofing felt is the type that you have to burn on, which is what the guy did, with a gas blow torch thingy! He said it is the same felt that one would use on houses. If we have a summer like last year the heat from the sun will also aid it sticking to the wood. I know flat or even slightly sloping rooves to tend to have/get a leak problem. My conservatory for one!!
