Hi I just picked up this little one today. I know he's very young, but his cere is blue. Is he a boy? I do hope so, as I've called Stuart. Edited by Hezz to add photos.

I've added your photos to the original post. Yes, looks like a boy to me, as well. He's not that young. He has been through his first moult at least, as his baby bars have gone.

Thank you so much. I was told he was between 8 and 12 weeks. The rest of the budgies in the cage still had their bars and he was the smallest. The shop had a separate cage for older birds.... I wonder if he's been left in the youngster's cage because he's so small. I've had him less than a day and I'm already in love.

Stuart is really beautiful reenie. I have a soft spot for 'yellow faces' too.

I agree he's gorgeous. I picked him because he was the most confident - realising now that's probably because he was older than all the others.

He's a beauty reenie. Look forward to hearing more about him when he settles in and starts doing all the adorable budgie antics 😀

Most definitely not eight weeks; 12 would be pushing it, but maybe just possible ... first moult usually happens around three to four months and he has been through his, but all that aside, he is still a youngster, just maybe not as young as you were told, and a beauty.

Thanks. I was thinking of Homer or Bart (because of his yellow face) then my niece suggested using one of the minions names, and Stuart just really seemed to suit him.
