Hello! Yesterday we got 3 parakeets, 3 months old each off of craigslist. one's above beak part is blue, other is white and blue, and one is bright pink. It look's like 1 girl and 1 boy for sure, not sure on the other though. They are in a very small cage, so we are planning on putting the boy and other one in a bigger cage, not the girl. It seemed as if the girl was bullying the boy and supposedly boy, a lot. If there is a girl and a boy in the same cage, would they mate anyway, or could you keep them from doing it? also, the middle part of their wings are clipped, not the long or super short feathers, the medium ones. does this still keep them from flying?

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I thought so too. We where in our room, and heard a really pretty clicking and chirping song coming from the yellow girl, we looked up a mating call, and it sounded very similar. Could this be why she is being very bitey too? The others will step up on your finger and or shoulder. But she just keeps biting hard. Also, how old do you think they are? and Yes, we hope to move them very soon.

A hen and cock bird will usually only mate if you give them the right conditions, nest, nesting material, extra protein and food in their diet (and of course if they like one another!!). The hen would have a brown crusty cere (nostrils) if she was in breeding condition. However a hen can lay eggs without mating, but fortunately this doesn't happen very often. Hens are more cranky than males, hence the term 'hen pecked'!!!
Make sure though that they have cuttle, oyster shell grit, iodine block, seed and fresh veg on a regular basis.

Thanks I think her cere looks a bit more brown than pink, and last night they where both making the mating call to eachother. (boy and girl) and yeah, I will try and give them veggies. They seem to like apple a bit. We made a little nesting box for them, but where should it be? (floor, hanging, etc.) and is shredded paper okay inside?

Get rid of the box if you are not wanting to breed which it sounds, from your original post, that you are not.
Hens will rule the roost; the boys are only there to be bossed around.

Thanks and yeah, we put a box in cause we decided we want some little chicks. We think it will be a good experience, but not going to encourage more than a nesting box.

Update! The parakeets have been very well! they have been given names now! Starburst (blue one), Neco (white one), and Skittles (yellow/green one). They all have had time to be out and fly around! Although, Neco and Skittles are VERY bonded, so they won't go anywhere without eachother. But luckily, Starburst is a sweetie pie, 3 days and he already perches on your shoulder, steps up, and he bobs his head XD
