..but didn't want to hijack Shirls thread! I haven't been on the forum lately as we have had a bit of a crisis in the family (you dont want to know about that) but have also been tending to the plants in our garden! So for an update on what's been happening, he is what we have: Left to right Bishop of Oxford Dahlia in big pot, Devonshire Dumpling fuchsia in small pots and grow bags awaiting for our tomatoes to be delivered! Plus wild flowers planted in front and to the side of the decking:
Canterbury Bells in front of 2 roses, 1 red 1 yellow Arthur Bell
Yellow rose when first came out and after it rained
As you come out of the flat Camelia on left with Claire Austin climbing cream rose at back, nasturtiums in front with existing hibiscus and GIGANTIC honeysuckle on right! Honeysuckle chic et choc planted near trellis, trailing red petunias in hanging basket, stocks and english lavender in front bed with zinnias and baby blue eyes flowers in front of rose bush Last years Jasmin in full romp up the trellis! Plus new Nemesia flowers and spring anemonies (gone over now) Its been hard graft (as well as on the wallet) but what we have achieved when considering this is what we started with: But its so been worth it!

What a transformation samwiseg !! I don't think people realise, how much hard graft goes into a transformation like that. Sounds very smelly fragrant with the flowers you have chosen. Do all the roses have scent too?

Thank you very much! The roses we planted I made sure they had root grow in the hole and on the roots before we planted them to give them a good start and yes Shirls all the rose are smelly fragrant!

I’ve spent so much on plants, and slugs or snails keep eating the flowers. Finally bought some pellets, first lot were blue, horrible. But any other tips? Such a shame. The ones I have in pots are ok. Weirdly next door has loads out and they’re all fine.
So at the mo there are white pellets. I was going to buy a bag of small stones as read they don’t like those, but I couldn’t lift it

Crush some eggshells, that will stop them, they won’t crawl over them.......

If you would like a more natural remedy ffiscool try using garlic water! Yes! Slugs hate it apparently, saw someone on Gardener's World use it on their hosters (and you know how yummy the slugs find those) I'll see if I can get you the recipe....

Here we are Fran, sourced from hereGarlic Wash Recipe Well, here it is. Much requested and sought after - top secret you know... Ingredients: 2 Bulbs Garlic 2 Pints Water Instructions: Crush 2 bulbs of garlic Steam or boil in 2 pints of water for 3 to 4 minutes until blanched Strain mixture and make back up to 2 pints Leave to cool When ready to use, mix one tablespoon in five litres of water and sprinkle on to leaves in late afternoon (in dry weather). Re-apply every two weeks. The mixture dries on the leaves making them unappealing to slugs and snails! The mixture will apparently dry on the leaves making them rather unappealing to slugs and snails! Of course you can always take a short cut and use our very own Plant Elixir - Godfrey's Glorious Garlic Guard, available in 250ml bottles.
