Hello, I hope everyone is doing well I was wondering about sprouting seeds for my little buds, can I sprout like (lentils, chickpeas...etc) ? I have so many questions, and this is the forum that I completely trust, so any input (no matter how small) would be greatly appreciated I found this sprouting jar (pic attached), what do u think?

Thank you Helenmat:) I’m actually wondering about what kind of seeds can we sprout, I’m afraid of using something that might harm them

You can sprout anything that you yourself would eat, plus any of the seeds that the birds would eat. The only thing I wouldn't try are the beans - broad beans, black beans etc as I do seem to recall that they may need to be treated slightly differently. You might have to check that out, as I don't have these beans myself so didn't take a whole lot of notice of the info.

I’m overwhelmed by all the articles about the risks of sprouting that are flooding the net :/ (E.coli, salmonella) I’m worried about my little buds, maybe it’s not a good idea with KSA’s hot weather ? Should I grow them millets in organic soil instead?

Use your common sense and if you wouldn't be prepared to eat them yourself, don't feed to the birds. A little ACV in the water in the final rinse can really help. You will probably find that where the instructions might say 3-5 days, you'll have sprouts in 1-3. As long as you keep them moist enough to grow ...

Have you tried sprouting millet lemonora? There was a thread about here for us that tried in the UK (some successful some not) and as you are in warmer climates you may have success

I have just sent for some organic chickweed to grow in the conservatory, well hubby doesn't like the plastic cheese plant, so he can stop moaning. I have grown millet in the conservatory. The birds used to love rifling through the chickweed.

I just love cheese plants suesbird! But we literally have no more room in the flat for any more house plants - (I would still like one though)! OH has to be strict on me, am not allowed to go to a garden centre unless he comes with me to supervise lol!
