My grandad would only ever have green budgies as he felt they were the ‘proper’ ones. They sell birds at Birdworld skysmum along with small animals, ferrets, goats and sheep. I’m surprised a little budgie didn’t fall in your pocket on the way out 😆

I know jane, my pockets had to be stitched up before we went, this little fella almost found his way into Tommy's, until he pooped in his hand then it was game over He LOVED it jellybean, it was a fantastic day Now i fell just a little bit in love with this baby but i would have needed a HUGE pocket

How wonderful. I was going to ask if any fell into your pocket skysmum? I see what you mean about the last baby, how cute is he?? Isn't it strange, from a youngster I only ever liked blue budgies (cobalt style!!), now, although I love ALL budgies, I have a real soft spot for the green ones!

How lovely that they only keep the true coloured budgies. The true greens are a favourite of mine, as well. Glad young Tommy had a lovely time; pity about the poop in the hand, though.

Bird World is fabulous. I went on a very cold winter's day with quite a strong wind blowing. Within a very few minutes I wished I had taken an additional layer to wear under my coats and over my jumper. It was bitter. Much to my amazement there were many birds out in their flights despite the freeze! The green budgies were outside rather than in the partially walled and cosier inner flight area (a massive one). But more amazing still was the little flock of very hardly zebra finches buzzing around all over he place almost ignorant of the freezing temperatures. Meanwhile my lot were at home with inside flights, no draughts and a stand-by heater ready to flick on if the thermostat registered below 10C indoors. Around Bird World there were larger parrot species, some tropical birds and loads from southern Asians type all braving it out in the cold. A few had nipped inside to bask under heat lamps... I felt like joining them. The penguins seemed not to notice the chill I guess LOL I had first been to Bird World not long after it opened and taken about 100 eleven year olds and staff for the day (a topic on rainforests so it seemed like a good reason to go ) This time around I was amazed how the trees and shrubbery had changed the appearance of the place - didn't recognise it from my first visit. A great place to go.... especially when its not in deepest darkest winter. (Minus the 100 eleven year olds this time around)

It is great isn't it, it was a bit chilly the day we went but none of the birds seemed to mind, like yours mine were at home inside with the heater on, spoilt they are , We are hoping to go back during the holidays, i was amazed at some of the species there, some of which i had never even heard of. Who knew there were so many different Pigeons for example, so beautiful too . I love how clean and well kept the birds and grounds are, a very special place for sure

John Chitty is the vet for Birdworld. They told me when I was ringing round 4 years ago looking for an avian vet to treat Squawk.
