I decided, as you do, that i was going to make a Runner Bean Teepee for Tommy this year. Now this has been going on since the spring, i planted the seeds in the conservatory and tended to their every need, they grew well. Once the frosts had passed and the soil was warmer the canes went up and we planted the bean plants, we waited and we waited for them to take off, just like my dads used to, he was a champion Bean grower , ohhhhh how he would laugh at my attempt . A couple of weeks ago i decided enough was enough, my pathetic Beans were failing, all the watering and nurturing were proving fruitless, they would have to come out, leave them nan, lets wait Tommy said, so we did. All of a sudden, as if over night, they took off and we even have flowers . Now we wont feed an army, we will be lucky to get a boiling or two but it maybe worth the wait for a taste and Tommy has enjoyed helping and sitting in his Teepee, even though it hasn't provided the dense private feel that was intended I can still hear me dad laughing though

Well done. But be wary of giants chanting, "Fee-fi-fo-fum..."

He'll be urging you to have another try, skysmum. I agree, Tommy is a lucky lad to have a Gran who goes to all this trouble for him. Next year, onwards and upwards.

They look lovely skysmum. Really fresh and green. The supermarket ones look different to yours; they can look tough with brown edges. My grandad used to grow them but Iām not green fingered enough to even go there.

Aww, yummy beans. (Loki luuurves beans. ) And these are the same ones you were going to pull up? If so, Tommy is a very good judge in the garden, skysmum. I think you'd better listen to him in future.

Don't they just look super skysmum. So fresh and green, you don't need many to make up a portion either with beans, unless of course you are greedy a bit hungry!!

It would be "one for me, one for the pot, one for Loki, one for the pot" ... gee, the pot didn't get much of a look-in, did it???
