This popped up on my timeline from 7 years ago this morning with the caption, settling in nicely. I still really miss this little guy, our bond was so strong and he was my best friend. I hope his life was happy. I can’t write anymore I can’t see!

So hard. I still miss my first bud.
Hard to imagine, if you hadn’t experienced it, how much these little birds do become our best friends

I understand exactly how you feel helenmat. I felt the same with Squawk. Life feels that little more emptier without him in it. There was something special about him, I can’t put my finger on what it was. It just was. Same with you and Pickle no doubt. Our handsome boys 💙

They may have gone, but never forgotten and all have a special memory for us.

They are all special in their own individual ways. xx They are. I suppose when I say Squawk is special it is because he’s the only one I’ve had since a baby and he was a lone budgie for a time so our bond seemed closer. Chirpy is special as he is the gentle one and just nice to be around and Impy is special as a one off that broke the mould 😂

I dont think that people outside of this "special forum family" really KNOW what these little guys mean to us. Hugs for today helenmat. We KNOW how you feel.

Do you know I think losing your first budgie is like losing your first love - its one you never forget because of how special it was to you x
*hugs* to everyone who has loved and lost but can also love again x

The thing is he was not my first budgie, Perry was my first who got tragically killed in the door. But Pickle was so bonded to me and we had him from 8 weeks old for 5 years. He talked and just wanted to be with people. He came all over the house with me and I just really miss him and the closeness I had with him. I have never had a bird before or since that has been so tame or fond of humans like he was.
