Hi. I got my hand fed baby Budgie two days ago. He/she hatched on July 10th. It is not my first one but it's my first hand fed one. I also have a Cockatiel, Parrotlet and a Linnie. My baby doesn't have a name yet. I need a non gender specific name unless someone on here can give me an educated guess as to whether I have a male or female.

Welcome to the forum. I thought budgies couldn’t leave the parents for 8 weeks. Why is your budgie being hand fed? It’s hard to tell from the picture but I think you have a girl.

I thought she might be female from what I read about the color of the beaks on young Budgies. She isn't being hand fed now. I got her from a breeder who hand fed her. She is eating Volkman Parakeet food along with millet spray. I also give her flax and sesame seed from my hand as a treat whenever I hold her.

My two boys were 6 weeks when I brought them home Jane, I think if you have a good breeder who knows his birds, and sees them eating for themselves, 6 weeks is fine.

Maybe try and take another picture see if that’s clearer.

6 weeks can be fine if the breeder is responsible.
For my own personal reasons I wouldn't get a budgie less than 3 months. It's so hard to tell if they are sick or just doing normal young budgie things, until it's too late.
As for budgies gender, could be a girl, sometimes things can change this early on, so I am not sure!

I'm not concerned about whether my baby is actually a female or not. Time will tell. I have no intentions of breeding and she or he will not care what sex the name implies 😋. In the bright light, the cere appears bluish with white circles around the nostrils is why I think it's a girl. The breeder is experienced, nearby to me and has a sparkling reputation. Getting such a young bird from her doesn't bother me.

There’s a whole host of gender neutral names but as you say he/she won’t care. I’d go with your fave
Very cute, I’m not so sure on the girl but I know very little compared to those who’ve already commented
