Hello everyone, I hope you're all having a good day, I've had a budgie for just over 4 months now, she was around 4 months old when I got her to I'm guessing she's a round 8 months old and is very happy and healthy but she doesn't seem to want to interact with me and prefers to stay in her cage. I know this is common for new beards, especially being young but I just want some people's opinion on the situation. She's perfectly happy, she plays with her toys, tweets away all day and has a really cute personality - I gave her plenty of time to settle and have got her eating millet from my hand and i can ever so gently move my hand while she's sitting on my finger - she'll normally jump back to her perch or cage the 1st few tries however. She seems a little jumpy which is understandable but I've spent alot of time with her, taming her and making her feel safe. I've started to leave her cage door open for her with a ladder for her to get in and out but instead she plays on it which is not a problem, she likes to poke her head out of the cage between the ladder's gaps. very cute. but while the door is open, she's still her normal self but just doesnt want to leave. any suggestions for what I can do? I really wanna be able to interact with her but I dont want to force it, Its when she's ready not me. just any tips to help her along the way will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance and sorry if this didnt all make sense, - Cory

I'd take the time to get her step-up trained, whether that be onto your finger or onto a perch, and work on gradually being able to move her in and out of the cage. Can she fly?
