I'm building my perches in my bird house as a sloping ladder and could any body tell me what height I should allow between each perch? Many thanks

Do you mean for the the birds to be able to climb from one perch to the other? Do they need this; are they disabled? Otherwise you might make it too easy for them to get around.
Most of the ladders you can buy have a space of only about 4cms between the rungs, if that is of any help. If your birds are able-bodied and able to fly, there is no distance requirement as they will flit from where they are to where they want to go.

I think you mean like below, if so, you need to allow enough space in between each rung for a Budgie to comfortably sit and enough distance so they don’t poop on each other. It would be better if you make it out of natural branches though as dowels or not so good for birds feet.

Thank you for your reply. Is bamboo cane better than Dowling?

I wouldn't use bamboo, it's a bit too smooth.
I like willow, just do an online search for bird safe wood.

Definitely not bamboo. It is worse than dowels - no texture, too smooth and no variation in thickness. Thank you helenmat. I was completely on the wrong track.
