Hi everyone!
I’m in the process of moving out and, if I can get rid of the insanely huge wardrobe in my room so I have more space, I thought it might be a good time to acquire a larger cage, and possibly a second bird.
I’m currently debating between the large Hagen vision and the piano 6.
I like the appearance of the vision but I’m leaning more towards the piano 6 because of the extra space, and the external feeding bowls mean I don’t need to put in the current feeding perches, which are rather bulky. However the food bowls seem quite deep, which means I probably won’t be able to just put in a day’s worth of seed the way I do now.
Meanwhile the vision is smaller and would require feeding perches inside. However the cage doors seem more functional than the piano 6’s. Particularly as they’re positioned together and therefore I could have a small or a larger opening. The depth of the cage from front to back is narrower than I currently have though.
Then the next minute I’m leaning more towards the vision. Oh dear!
Those who’ve had either or both of these cages, what are your thoughts on them?

I’ve had a Vision M01 and now have a Ferplast Piano 6 (both purchased from Zooplus which is the cheapest place I’ve found just in case you haven’t heard of it). Without doubt I prefer the Ferplast as it’s sturdier than the Vision. The Vision has a central plastic part on the top which means you cannot attach anything to that area and it also has ridges on the bottom of the cage which makes walking on it difficult for birds (I always take the grill out see). The only negative with the Ferplast for me is the small doors at the front whereas the Vision has double doors but the positives far outweigh that one negative.

I have a Piano 6 too and would go for that every time @sillycat84. Plenty of parallel flying space.

Thanks Shirls! Sounds good to me!
Now I just need to acquire it, a travel cage, and find somewhere near me that sells budgies! All the places that used to have stopped or closed.

I think there is a list of budgie breeders on here somewhere. There may be one near you, if you are in the UK of course, doesn't say in your profile.

Yes, in Cardiff. I think my DM’s (I’m one of those D&D players xD ) father breeds budgies, but the few times I’ve been there I have seen other birds but not budgies, so I’m not so sure how good my DM is at telling pet birds apart!

Perhaps you could help here Marianne Marlow, samwiseg? I have had a quick look for a breeders list and can't find one, is there one still?

Looking on the pet breeders directory on the Budgerigar Society website, there appears to be someone in Barry, Bridgend, Neath, Port Talbot and Penarth, all of which I can probably reach on public transport. I don’t have a car, which limits me more, so the one in Builth Wells is probably a bit too far. I think Pugh’s Garden Center might still have pet shops, either the Radar or Wenvoe one, that sell budgies, which is another option.
Sadly the garden centre where I bought Munchy burned down and they never restored the pet shop, and the one in the market closed, which was a shame because the owner was quite knowledgeable and it was handy. My first ever bird came from there.
I remember when I was a child Pets at Home had these huge aviaries. Then bird flu happened and they disappeared. And now the one near me doesn’t even seem to sell any bird accessories. It”s such a shame. People are missing out on the opportunity to see how amazing these little guys are.

Hey Sam! It’s good to be back! He’s doing well! Can’t believe he’s nearly 8. Still as spritely as ever! And has fallen in love with the bottom of my granddad’s crutch... I wasn’t planning on more birds but my friend has a cat so Munchy’ll be stuck in my room with me and I figured he could do with the company if he can’t go in a family room. The doors are all heavy fire doors that stay shut unless you wedge them and the cat is elderly and can’t even catch spiders, so I was willing to risk the living room and just keep them supervised but I don’t think my housemates want him there, the way they keep suggesting other places. So yeah, guess I won’t be getting a kitten when my friend’s cat passes, I’ll be permanently stuck as a bird person. xD The piano 6 looks like it will be good for wing stretching when I’m on day shifts too. How are your little terrors doing?

I too would recommend the Paiano 6, ample space for flying around and great for 2 birdies My lot are only 2 now sadily we had to have my Marley scamp put to sleep a couple of weeks ago as he had the dreaded AGY. It didn't help that the vet wouldn;t listen to me until it was too late to treat it even though we tried. So I have a 3 year old Nubbs and my 8 nearly 9 year old Murph from the original gang! Both are doing well and are very buddy buddy. Its lovely because Murph never had a bestie friend until Nubbs, and now he gets the pleasure of being groomed as well as grooming (it melted my heart the first time it happened for him) But he is still a mummy's boy too

I’m sorry to hear that, Sam. I’m sure they all enjoyed their time with you, and I’m glad that Murph has a best friend now! Not for ages, Jane! I called him Munchy pretty quickly in case my ex came up with something ridiculous that stuck. But funny enough we do sometimes call him Munchkin too! Ideally I didn’t want them in my bedroom, but the only other option is the very downstairs room, and, at least if I only kept Munchy, I’d have to have stuff to do down there to go and keep him/them company, but then I’d be cluttering up a room that’s already not all that large. But there is a sort of vent thing in my room so hopefully that will help with keeping the air clearer. Now I just need to figure out how to arrange it if the landlord won’t remove the giant wardrobe. Seriously, my room is smaller than the other, slightly, yet the wardrobe is bigger!
