In the last few minutes. She had this huge limpoma (I think that's what it is called) She had had it for quite a while but manages with it. It was hanging down from the chest and over her feet. I didn't try to get a vets as I had a good idea they would have either lanced it or pts. Anyway she started making it bleed when preening. Only small amounts of blood and very occasionally. Three days ago she really made it bleed when I was not looking. I managed to staunch the flow of blood with cornflour. Tonight I heard some scuffling on the cage bottom and Kiwi was making a sorrowful chirp. It was \Mildred scuffling in pools of blood. I knew it was the end. Sigh! So! I picked her up in an old towel and held until the end.
So sorry to read this Colin, Mildred was such a lovely character. My thoughts are with you, we all know how you feel with the loss of a loved budgie. Fly high little one, join all the other featherds, and try to catch up with Joey!!
Fly high: Billy Boy, Charlie, Harvey, JoJo, Joe, Lacey, Missy, Oscar, Pickle and Smudge. RIP: Penny, Poppy, Lola, Georgie, Bea, Morgana, Phoebe, Truffle, Hazel, Tilly, Tuppence and Mollie.
You have the names right Marianne. Both of them are flying around the Hamberley. I was/am worried that Kiwi will miss Mildred as he was always by her side, feeding and kissing. But so far Oscar has filled the vacuum. They were together before meeting Mildred.
