Hi! My budget was back facing me today and pressing her back from what seems like it. I saw a cork-colored lump on her back. It didn't seem like blood. I got a hold of her and tried to see what it is. The lump was protruding much from her back and felt solid. Causing her feathers not being able to rest back. She is eating and drinking well, perfectly normal. Anyone has seen this condition before?

Hello chalmersc. Sorry you have joined us with a problem, but someone will come on here to help shortly, I'm sure. But, in my limited experience I believe your budgie has a cyst. This can be treated and dealt with by a vet, preferably an avian vet. It's good that she is eating and drinking so it can't be affecting her too much at present. I hope it is nothing more serious for you (both). What part of the world are you in btw?

Hi and welcome chalmersc As mentioned, it could be a feather cyst - is it really firm to the touch? Does it ooze anything or smell at all? It would help if you could share a picture of the lump if possible

Where exactly on the back of the bird is the lump? It sounds to me as though it could be the preening gland (uropygial or oil gland) which may or may not be normal, blocked or has developed a cyst. Let's see some photos, please.

It sounds like it could be on the preening gland to me too. We need pictures if possible or just try and get her to an avian vet.
