Hi all,
Whilst I have kept Munchie with me I would still like her to go to a new home. She hasn’t really bonded with me so that would make it easier for her to adapt. The dynamics with another female is just not working out, especially between Impy and Munchie. Munchie is dominating Imps and along with Chirpy’s behaviour Impy is having quite a difficult time of late and looks thoroughly miserable. I think Munchie would thrive with either just males or a few birds, especially if they are out most of the day indoors or in an aviary.
Can someone help? She is a lovely little bird but my home set up is not the right environment for her or the others. Thanks.

Aw, that's a shame Jane, from the videos you posted I thought she looked happy.

Aw, that's a shame Jane, from the videos you posted I thought she looked happy. I know Marianne Marlow. Munchie is happy and so adorable but I’ve picked up that she’s quite dominant. For example, she chases Impy away when Impy goes to eat and clucks and raises her beak at Impy when she goes near her. Impy has become quite nervy at times, looking over her shoulder when eating, ready to fly off when Munch is coming, which is heartbreaking to see when she was so confident and bolshy. It’s so hard to get it right with budgies but my birds are in the cage most of the time so it’s important that they are comfortable with each other.

I suppose it's different with mine. Lucy is quite dominant and pecks at the others when caged, but when out they can all get away from eachother.

I think that is a general thing with hens Jane. My Pip is like that, very dominant, bossy and aggravates all the boys. The only one she tolerates is Charlie in his batchelor pad, he doesn't seem to upset her at all. I don't think exhibition hens are like it, just the 'pet shop' hens. I'm sad that you have to re-home her, but you have to consider the boys happiness, especially as they are in their cage a lot.

you did so much for her, saved her. but as above, you have to do what makes them happy, and maybe.. you never know.. there could be a not so far away place might want her

I'm sorry to hear that Jane, I thought things were going well. I hope this little girl finds a good home.

And poor little Munchie gets left out. Probably why she’s a pain. Wonder whether her presence is what’s making Chirpy a nuisance towards Impy at times too.

I'd offer to do some travelling to collect her, seeing as I'm after a second bird anyway, but I think Munchy and Munchie might get confusing!

I'm sure she wouldn't mind a name change. Dean Stockwell didn't complain at all when we changed his name from Teasel.
