Hehe, yes. I didn’t really know what to write. Also thread title courtesy of my housemates as a pun on ‘Peep Show’ as I was just putting up photos. Choosing was so difficult! Could have easily come home with several. Sort of got to the point where the keeper went into the shop aviary and we’d lost track of the one that I’d wanted to look at and I was kinda like “I’ll just take that one” Poor dear was promptly grabbed and stuffed in a box and then grabbed again to get taken from the box and put inside the travel cage. Note to self, next time just hand the cage to the guy. I was very amused when he asked if I wanted a care sheet. Very useful, should have said yes to see what was on it and if it was actually beneficial for new budgie owners, but my brain thought something along the lines of “I turn up with a travel cage and you think I need a care guide?” Hopefully they didn’t think that was the bird’s permanent home... But yes, this is my (I think) yellowface type 1 sky blue normal boy. Yet to be named. Tom wants to call him ‘Rolo’ because Munchy (Munchies) is a type of sweet.

He's lovely. Rolo is a cute name. Have you had any other name ideas? I'm sure they will be very pleased to meet each other when it's time.
It's good that they offered you a care sheet. I think pet shops are required to provide a care sheet even if they think some one doesn't need one. I agree it would be interesting to know what it said. We've only once had a pet from a shop and they offered us a care sheet.

Not yet. I ended up out overnight and stuck at a friend's house in the valleys so haven't gotten to know him yet. He's still too shy for personality based names. I keep getting too caught up in telling him how cute he is to think about it. I did debate Kester after an old one of my grandparents', named after the road they lived in when they were in Australia. Don't think it suits though. Ooh, that would make a lot of sense. They also took my name and phone number. Will be interesting to see if they do anything with that. For a pet shop they seemed reasonably competent. I must not go back and get another. Any name ideas are welcome. Something might suit and stick or spark an idea.

Pfft! I guess it’s currently between Rolo and Peri (Periwinkle) then. Oh no... if I get some sort of confectionary naming scheme and get a violet it’s going to be called Parma isn’t it? And a little white one called Mallow. If I named him based on his behaviour he would be called Klutz...

I like Peri. When I mentioned it to my OH this morning he suggested Crunchie too.
We won't really have a naming system. Our critters have all been named after characters or people that we like. We had a trio of gerbils called Edgar, Allan and Poe. Since our pets have nearly all been rescues we sometimes keep the names they already had if we like them. I'd already picked Randolph Carter's name after seeing his photo on Gumtree, but Dexter and Dean Stockwell were named after we got them.
Which shop did you get him from? It was Petwise Aquatics that offered us a care sheet when we bought a gerbil from them. They were very good at the time we bought her but went downhill for a while after that but thankfully got much better again. They've always got nice healthy looking budgies.

Edgar, Allan and Poe reminds me of the inadvertent thing a friend and I did when we made D&D characters nicknamed the Alchemist and the Poet. We go by Al and Po, so one guy wanted to know if we had friends called Ed and Gar. =D
Sorry, off topic.
Yes, that was the one. Someone from my friend’s choir suggested it to him. The birds all seemed very happy and healthy.

I was picturing the birds there when you were talking about how hard it was to choose yours We thought about getting one from them when we were looking for a buddy for our first budgie, Criswell, but a friend of ours had got a budgie from a local breeder so we got Dexter from there. She' stopped breeding now though. When we got Dexter we only had 4 to choose from so it made it a lot easier. The breeder lives up in the mountains near Pontypool so to save people driving up there she used to bring the birds down to Pontypool Tesco carpark. She brought the cage into our car to let us choose. She had 2 beautiful yellow budgies that were obviously bonded to each other, a tricolour and Dexter (sky blue spangle). Dexter was happy to step up on my finger and he chirped to me, so he sort of picked me. Our other 3 were all rescues and on their own we got them.

I debated going to one of the breeders. Any of them would have required a train journey. The shop had so many to pick from that it really was just a case of pointing out one that was easy to recognise in the end. I love it when the animal chooses you. My housemate's cat did that, after having been returned so many times by families that chose her for her looks but weren't able to cope with her personality, but she went and sat on my friend's lap.
This little one is such a curious little fellow. He has been performing acrobatics in the corner of the cage, trying to dig his way out through the tray, and has just come out, landed on my laptop, flown to the gym that's still on the floor, run around the floor, and is now sat on top of the bookcase. He's very determined too. When he was doing acrobatics he kept losing his grip, dropping like a stone and then instantly climbing back up.

The pet shop I got my latest two from took my phone number, and when I asked why, he said he had to, to retain his licence to sell pets. Does it with all the animals he has (snakes and dragons, spiders etc., ) I felt it was a good idea though as if one of them, any one, came down with a terrible contagious illness (heaven forbid) they would be able to trace anyone it could affect. I didn't get a care sheet, but I did give the guy the carry cage to plop said budgie in!!
Know what you mean about 'I'd like that one please' then... ok, that one will do!!! I'm sure you both will be very happy with each other!! I like the name 'Rolo' too!!

Ah! Thanks for the info, Shirls!
Next time I'll remember to hand them the cage.
Yes! Especially as I was mostly looking for a companion for Munchy so my only main preference was for a male!
