That's a good idea Hezz - I will syringe to her. I actually said to the vet am I better syringing it to her as Ralph is also going to be drinking the water and she said no put it in the water. Does anyone know the dosage if syringing direct to beak? The vets are closed today so it would be tomorrow before I can call to find out, and then it would be evening before i was home to actually syringe. I did have a book where I wrote everything down about medicines and dosages but god knows where it is. Shirls i know what you mean, we had a dog with cancer who was at end of life and when i took him to the vets for a steriod injection the receptionist was shouting across the waiting room 'I don't like the look of his breathing' and shaking her head. I was only young then and it took me everything I had not to burst into tears in that waiting room. Needless to say once in the vet room i was in floods.

Found it by searching on here, knew I'd posted about dosages before - 0.02ml - 0.03ml.
Wish me luck - she is a biter.

clt80 that vet sounds the worst! I have had some horrible ones before I found my avian one. If it had been up to the previous vet Pickle wouldn't have lived past his first consultation! He lived another 3 years!! Good luck with the treatment, could you maybe book in with your normal vet for a follow up. Sorry to hyjack this thread but Marianne Marlow, sorry about your diagnosis, I have IBS, and kidney problems and have been tested for Ceoliac. When you were tested and diagnosed you should have been referred to a special coeliac nurse or doctor. You can get loads of stuff to eat on prescription. Don't let them fob you off. If you had a blood test and it came back positive you should be given help.

Yes I'm going to ring my normal vet tomorrow, hoping she was just on a day off on Saturday and not away on holiday. I managed to syringe, but can't remember if it was twice daily. I think it is, but haven't done it tonight incase I'm wrong and overdose, so will try to get the vet to confirm tomorrow. Iodine is in her water. It's expired last month so need to buy more, I got this online but with Xmas post it will take forever. Has anyone bought over the counter in a chemist? I looked at Holland and Barrett online as there is a shop near me but they don't sell it.

Have you got any pet shops near, would they sell iodine? Marianne Marlow, my step brother has coeliacs and makes his own bread in a machine, if you are a bread person. He uses rice noodles and other rice products - the supermarkets now do so much stuff.

I know it's expensive but you can pay for evening or next day delivery, if you have prime then delivery is free.

Seen a dietitian but as I've already joined coeliac UK and a Facebook group, I felt I knew more than he did Also, I told him I'm vegetarian and he asked if I eat fish.. err nope . I'm seeing a gastroenterologist in February but it seems ages away. I was diagnosed by blood test and also a biopsy via endoscopy.

clt80 you should be able to buy iodine tincture from any decent pharmacy. I really wouldn't be too concerned about what you have being just out of date either, as it has a long shelf life. It's simply that everything has to be given a use-by date so they aren't sitting around for decades, kept in less than ideal conditions, and then being used. Usually baytril dosage is equal to just one drop, but that does depend of course on what concentration the horrid woman made up. Whether once or twice a day ... that can differ with what bacteria they think it may be or how badly affected the bird might be. Definitely check with your regular vet if possible.

My vet must be away and the locum covering. Advise to syringe was dilute as normal and syringe as much as required!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm too mad to even comment on my thoughts about this piece of advice.
So, I'm going to have to go back to diluting in her water bowl and letting her drink, least I know she's getting something of a normal dose. I'll have to try the iodine once the antibiotics are done.

I'm almost speechless about the latest advice! I can only assume that the locum is on xmas break from first year of vet's school.

Quick! Take your notes round to the locum! Hah I actually laughed at that Steve! I'm getting quite a little party happening in my office: there is Tom and Mabel who have been in for a while, mabel doesn't cope well in the cold so is in until spring. Tom just wants to be with mabel so is happy. Of course Agatha and Ralph are in and tonight in comes quentin - turns out he is like his father and mother - a fighter who is a pest with the ladies. So he's nursing a bleeding foot and feeling sorry for himself.
