Forgot to add, I was also told that Tweetie Pie was a girl but when I posted the pictures here, everyone said boy. I believed that and started referring to him as "him/he"!

Iris rings start to visually develop from around the four-six months mark; it can take a good nine months for them to be fully visible. The same can be said for the cere, particularly if he isn't a dominant, highly "charged" bud. To me he looks to be a very normal 7 month old. He is most likely a yellow-faced type 1, so his facial colouring won't change too much as he matures. That's my opinion, for what it is worth.

He's just started running around and playing with Blithe. I'd say he's pretty highly charged. When the little ones fly about, he's right there in the thick of it, which looks weird as he's twice their size!

You have a Bertie too! The pin feathers on his head look just like my Bertie's. He's 5 months old if you count that from being an egg

My Bertie should be about 8 months old now but his cere is still purple! It has the start of some blue around the edges. I've never seen a budgies cere take so long to go blue before.

Dean Stockwell's cere was blue when he arrived but he still had his baby bars. So I don't know if his cere turned blue early or his moult was late! He was tiny when we got him. We've had him for 7.5 months so he must be at least 10 or 11 months old now. I noticed his iris rings a few weeks ago but they were not as obvious as the grown ups. I will have a better look tomorrow to see of they've changed. This picture was taken just before he arrived. So I'm quite confused about him too. He is a very bossy, dominant fellow - it's ridiculous seeing him challenging Randolph Carter despite being a fraction of his size.
Dexter's cere didn't turn blue until quite a while after his first moult. It was still more purple than blue when he was 7 months old. I didn't take any close up pictures for a couple of months after that so I don't know when it became very blue.
