The new additions to the flock, or as I like to call them "The Little Ones" are doing very well settling in.
Iris is a very clever hen it seems. She’s started going in on her own at night so that she did not need to be grabbed (gently) to be put in for bed.
Then last night a miracle happened – all of them went in on their own!
First Iris, then Colin, Billy and finally Daisy. It took them about 10 minutes in total but it’ll get quicker!
They squiggle at each other a lot at night time though, it seems to take an age for them to settle down.
Rehoming four budgies all at once when you already had a flock of five is not for the faint hearted!

I guess it's because they are young that they are adapting quickly

They are so lucky. I wish mine could have as much freedom as yours. I love the way you’ve set up your room for them Marianne Marlow.

I'm sure yours are still happy JaneThey are but I would love to let them out more. On the plus side Munchie is becoming more comfortable around me. Will sit in her cage near me. She’s a little dot; so adorable, as are they all.

Also glad you kept her. Maybe you’re becoming her pal, so she’ll not notice even if she does feel left out at times, by the others.

So am I. She’s so sweet. I do worry though that she still gets left out at times. I think the hens are far more independent than the males, and don't care whether they are left out or not, mine is very much her own birdie Jane.

Glad that the Little Ones are settling in well, Marianne. They are probably used to having to squabble to find a decent perch from their old days in the little cage. I thought one of the photos of Iris really showed off her brown/cinnamon markings. In other photos she looked more grey to me.

The big swing was from northern parrots years ago. The two smaller ones hanging off of it are by the natural bird prod. company.

The little ones have been a nightmare the past few nights.
Iris is still being good and going in on her own, but the other three are not!
Plus when they got in they would not settle down so have had to be separated for night times for some peace!
