How many times a day did you have to feed them before They were rejected by mum.she sat on them but mum or dad wouldnt feed them.i left them all day and they hadnt been fed so i took them away each time they were born.they were fed every hour and half day and night for the first seven days then i started to spread the feeds out.it is very tiring and i dont take them unless i need to,but they wouldnt have survived as i didnt have another hen to give them to. I am glad you saved them. Got any photos? Trying to type with monty on one hand is hard... i have a few photos, but i have to load them onto my tablet from my phone so i will put a few on as soon as possible.these three babies arent as tame as i wanted them to be as my parrot nina is frightened to death of them when they fly around so i cant keep them tame. It's nice when they like to help you type your keys on your computer.my stitch used to do do that but then he would keep chasing my fingers to bite them. Sue

Welcome back Sue I know how hard it is to hand feed, especially in the first week. How many did you hand feed?

Lovely to see you returning to the flock, Sue. Every hour and half day and night? Can that be right? Do they get fed that often by their parents if they are parent raised? That is worse than a reflux baby That takes such real determination, I have plonked you on my pedestal. Wow! Well done you! I am impressed.

Your answer to your question. I have always fed every hour and a half as i find the crop is empty by then and leaving it any longer i think can make the baby behind in growth.my baby that wasnt fed for a whole day was behind in growth and development for two weeks.it was touch and go with him,but feeding him every hour and a half for two weeks(which is something i dont usually do) built him up and now he is a bigger built bird than my other two. I know mum in the nest feeds her babies night and day all the time for about four to five days then doesnt feed much in the night after that.i feed through the night until they are over two weeks old.my babies take longer to wean but they never go without food like they would have if they were in the nest. Thanks hezz its nice to help our little feathered friends out. sue
