Hello again Picked this lovely pair up among others on the weekend and (naturally) i'm particularly super excited to see what to expect to see in the nest from them (I know there will be chicks lol ill just get that in hehe) but... I dont really know how to research the hen. Breeder gave me description on Violet Spangle hen but without hounding the poor lady for specifics... she seems rather washed out? or is that standard for violet spangles? She's so pretty in person the photos dont do her justice! a lovely soft lilac/lavender kind of color. Her siblings are lovely bright sky spangles and they look just like sky spangles. I'm very much smitten by this pair and would love to know how to do some research on what to expect! The cock is listed as Dominant Pied Violet and both birds are 2018 babies Thanks in advance! PS I also have both their parent mutations if that helps?

She certainly doesn't have the normal depth of colour to her markings so one of the diluting factors must be in play. If it were me, I would be hounding the poor lady for specifics.

Thanks Hezz I know bugger all about genetics and the way mutations behave but do know she is very pretty with her pastel purple. With spangles, is it standard for all that color to show through on the wings? Compared to the other spangles here she is the odd one out (not that it worries me even slightly,in fact i love her all the more for it!)

I'd say she is an opaline spangle, plus whatever the diluting factor is that this little girl has. I'm not genetics expert either ... just bits and pieces that I've picked up, possibly quite wrongly.
