Hi everyone. Ok so I have two parakeets my male blueberry and female lemon drop. Lemon drop laid 8 eggs but I had to separate them because blueberry kept jumping lemon drop and I didn’t want her to lay a second clutch but today the first egg hatched. Should I put him back in or can lemon drop feed the baby’s by herself?

Hi, welcome to the forum.
We have a few members who breed/have bred budgies so I'm sure someone will be along to help.
I know very little about the subject, but I would imagine the cock would be needed to feed the hen while she sits on the eggs and feeds the new chicks.

You need both parents. Mum feeds the chicks for the first few weeks and as jellybean has said dad feeds mum.

So today the second baby was born when will the female feed the baby because the one born yesterday was fed and this one doesn’t look fed?

Hezz posted for another forum member who has a breeding pair, that the hen may not feed the new chick for the first 24 hours.

I have a question for budgie breeders. Do the males help? With cockatiels, mom and dad take turns right away. In any case, if I were you, I would be prepared to step in and help. Can baby budgies be hand fed? If so, get what you need and be ready. I’m only experienced with cockatiels. Sorry.

As clt80 has already said, dad feeds mum; mum only feeds baby for the first little while. Mother's crop milk is important for the development of the chick(s)' immune system. Interfering too soon can put off the mother's feeding instinct, but it is best to have every needed ready to go. She will still come out to feed for herself at times as well, and help her along with a sprig of millet hanging in the nest box. Budgie chicks can be hand fed but it is not a job for the faint-hearted, and the formula has to be just right (never done it, just what I have picked up from others who have). Edit to eliminate possible misunderstanding.

I appreciate the information. I’m sure different breeds are just that. My point was to step in if all else fails. I love new insight. If the chick wasn’t getting fed at all, I would certainly try. Why not? When I bred, I didn’t start immediately. And then only during the day and every other feeding. It bonded the babies to me and made wonderful pets. My hand fed pet lived to more than 20 years. My children also enjoyed the experience. I hope mom and dad are doing their jobs!

Ok so yesterday my parakeets kicked out an egg because it was cracked and the egg was dead but today they kicked out one of the baby’s. I am up to 3 babies and this one was just born yesterday but it’s still alive what do we do?

Ok I put it back in and she fed it so she is taking care of it now but it’s not moving around a lot but it didn’t do that yesterday slot either so we will wait and see.

What sort of nest do you have that the hen could kick out her chick?

Well the chick didn’t survive but another one hatched. Should I remove it or let them remove it?

"Should I remove it or let them remove it"
I don't actually know what you mean by that.
Just leave the chick and let the parents get on with raising it, I'd try not to intervene. Maybe you should remove the nest box or whatever you have, to stop them from breeding.
Edit:- sorry, I take it you mean the dead chick, I think I'd remove it.
