Glad all seem OK/ The description of blood in a wide area would suggest it has brrn shaken from amouth part. I can't see some of the detail in the pics, but you really coulld do with finding the source. Krrp a good ;ook out for more fresh drops during the day please. Yes, I wondered that too, or possibly sprayed from the nares, like a sneeze. No sign of blood around their beak/face though.... I wondered whether it was a tail twizzle after the blood feather happened as that might cause the large amount of spray as i've seen when birds have a blood feather they wish to clean themselves up pretty sharpish Glad it was nothing more serious and all are ok!

Have you checked all their toe nails?
I came home to a similar situation once and it turned out that Basil had caught his toe nail in a cage door and lost most of the nail. Thankfully he was okay, but the nail didn't grow back.

It's very scary to come down to this in the morning for sure . I had this a few times with my old JoJo, being FM his feathers broke easily.

Good point about a tail twizzle - I hadn't thought about that. It would certainly explain the spray.

Photo of Lennie's strange wing feathers: He's not been able to fly properly for about a year now.

Gosh your pictures reminded me of when I came down to find Ernie in the bottom of the cage. There was blood everywhere similar to you. Sadly he didn't make it. When I had a proper look at him I found a snapped feather right underneath his wing, there was no sign of anything on top. I am convinced he had a night terror and hit his wing somewhere and then they flap and it sprays out. It looks like you have been lucky all is ok.

How tragic that was. We certainly did have a lucky escape, whatever happened.

Ah well, as long as he's happy enough with his little mate, Perry. This is probably the worst it's been. He does suffer anxiety that I believe gets worse when he cannot fly. Before, they used to get some exercise keeping up with Dalai but they don't leave the cage now...

Yes there was blood on perches and in the doorways. It was his back toenail, the small one that was almost totally hidden.

Poor Lennie, he doesn't have many flight feathers at all.
