Yesterday Trump said that everything should be opened and just let people get the coronavirus and then the herd immunity would come about. Easy for him to say because he got rapid and expensive treatment which no one else would get. Then there's the thousands who would die...

Totally. It’s been appalling re PPE especially The healthcare professionals were pressurized at hospitals to wear raincoats, when the pandemic started taking it's own place here!!! Few years back, a wonderful team comprising of ex army and ex navy members had proposed a plan to train the public regarding sanitization, social distancing and generation of PPE kits, masks etc as a contingency plan for future. The plan was dismissed and brushed away to look at in future! And now here we are working double shifts and 24 x 7 to produce health equipments & necessities. People learnt social distancing after loosing their loved near and dear ones. Only if the governments and people are more proactive than reactive, the pandemic could have been handled better!

Places such as Singapore, that had a hit from SARS, were well prepared with their own quarantine hospitals already set up. Unfortunately, Singapore's downfall was immigrant dormitories. Too many people living in too small a space, without the necessary precautions.

how can they to provide meals for school children in the holidays! it is a lot to do with covid where incomes are low or non existent. but how can they spend and waste what they do on other things but not then feed the kids.
so so bad - just do not understand it. those making these decisions are not on the breadline
loads of local places thankfully are making meals.
one man on our local neighbourhood thing, is cooking for anyone who needs it

Very kind of your neighbor to do that. I wondered the same thing myself ffiscool. Many families drive to the food pickup place and get breakfast and lunches for their children. With the holidays coming, where will the food come from? Hopefully there is a plan.

It shouldn't be down to the general public, (including shops, restaurants and food places) to provide meals for school children at any time. Same as food banks, it's down to the general public to provide food for these, and the general public is getting poorer and poorer, but they still find some cash to help other people!!
It's such a shame that BJ can only just survive on £150,000 per year!

Totally. It’s a disgrace
Mind you if he had had to support all his children, he might notice a bit more.
These people need to spend even a day with those that can’t manage, to see it
My nieces husband has offered to provide food in his area and just leave on doorsteps if people feel embarrassed etc.
Thank goodness fir the kindness of people
I think this has to come higher up the list of things - don’t get me wrong, I know we help out so many other countries etc and it would possibly be reciprocated if the need arose etc but at this awful time, I’m sorry but we come first

ffiscool with Trump saying "America first", I can't and won't fault other countries for doing the same. My greatest hope at this point is that whichever country come up with the vaccine and treatment will share that.

The people on this forum are all so generous with sharing their knowledge and experiences and I imagine they are like that in other areas of their lives.

Our club has been doing a food collection, which goes to a cafe that is making packed lunches for children. They email a list of what they need and we collect as much as possible. It's not fair that the small business owners who are already struggling should be expected to provide everything.
Speaking of lockdowns, it looks very much as if a nationwide lockdown of some type will be announced next week. The local ones just don't seem to be working. People are just crossing into the next county to drink, shop etc. It makes my blood boil that some people don't take this virus seriously.

We are on a nationwide lockdown now until the 1st of December. Honestly though it is so different to the last one in that schools are open and there are so many moving around still. I can only imagine the run on the shops when they open again 😞 the pubs that serve booze only and no food still haven’t opened since March so a lot of people’s livelihoods are destroyed. On the plus side our numbers have stabilised but if they save Christmas and open up again in December which is the plan, January is going to be horrific cases wise again.

For the first time in months, I have seen the curve flattening at my place. I doubt if they aren't able to capture such high numbers?! Though it seems to be a good news, I'm sure we would get a second wave, just like every other country!
They had been talking about lockdown, but I don't think so the economy downfall and the poverty would allow it again. I'm not expecting anything till the end of Dec 2021. If it vanishes earlier, I would be happy at least! 🧡
