This is a blog post I made last night. Thought that people here might like to see it.
On the 28th February we had to leave our flat with an hours notice. Our floors were damaged and on inspection they discovered that there were burst pipes under the floorboards.
They managed to find us somewhere to live immediately but it has been a massive disruption.
I have anxiety issues and do not cope well with change at all. Plus we have nine budgies and a young child (she was one year old on 9th March)
The new flat is not ideal and we had to keep the budgies locked in for the first couple of days which I felt really bad about.
They have a good view of Canary wharf from the window though and have settled in quite well.
That first hour of letting them out is always so stressful. I was worried that they’d fly into the wall and hurt themselves. They were okay thankfully.
We were told that it would take two weeks to a month to be allowed back in our flat but so far have not been informed of any progress.

The birds are probably the least stressed of all of you. These little creatures are so much more resilient than we give them credit for. They look very settled there, M. I hope the rest of the family feel just as calm. xx

I'm sorry this has been so stressful for you. It's nice that the budgies look so relaxed. I wonder if they appreciate the new view. It's impressive.

I feel for you Marianne Marlow, its not fun moving even when you have plenty of time to organize and move. To move on a moment's notice - ugh! Not be informed on the progress of your place is just awful. Hopefully major progress is being made and you can move back in a couple more weeks. Love the pictures of the budgies - they do look settled in.

Yes, I think we probably stress more than the budgies regarding change, yours look fine Marianne. Try and look after yourself, and of course Eve, through these next few weeks.

It seems that the birds have settled well in your temporary home, it looks like they are enjoying the different views.

On a positive note it is a nice view of all those buildings in London. Personally, I prefer views of people coming and going rather than trees and fields. Your birds look absolutely fine Marianne Marlow. Just hope you’re all ok and trying to settle in as best you can.

What a stress for you Marianne. I hope you get home soon The buds look very content. I have recently moved house & Brodie also surprised me with his reaction - rather than being scared or daunted by being in a new place he was sooooo excited & hyper, really chirpy & giddy! He was actually more perturbed when we moved into my parents’ home for a few weeks after leaving my flat! I was also wary letting him out for the 1st time & still aren’t letting him out unsupervised. I hope things get back to normal for you soon x

You're right, they are content, but they did not enjoy being locked in for the first few days, I felt so guilty at having to do that.

Let us know when you hear something about getting back in your place. Hopefully the work is coming along fabulously. Hopefully Eve is adjusting to the change OK.

I'll let you know, but to be honest I don't think they have even started yet, it's been two and a half weeks now. Eve and the budgies have adjusted well, it's me that is the problem!

Certainly sounds like a stressful time for the humans of the house!
The budgies look like they're just enjoying a change of scenery. And they have each other. Munchy and Peri were never bothered about where they were as long as they were together.

Oh dear Marianne Marlow, with the coronavirus going on its hard to tell what is being worked and what's on hold. Hope they get going on your place and I hope the stress and issues of being in a new place ease up.
