An hours notice.... I'm not sure I'd be able to cope let alone get what I need and get out. How did you manage to get all the cages etc moved with the budgies?
How are you feeling now Marianne?
Understand what youre saying re:guilt at them being locked in. But, if you'd let then out and one had hurt themselves you'd not of forgiven yourself, so keeping them locked in whilst they got settled and eyed the new place up was the lesser of two evils I think.

Well one of the first things husband brought over were the two main budgie cages and put them on the kitchen counter, until he brought over a table to put them on!
We did have quite a while to bring things over, but my brain just didn't want to process that we'd have to move.
I'm not doing that well, I range from angry to weepy. I really hate it here, when you come into the front door, you have to come up 15 steep steps, so I feel isolate because I cannot keep going up and down stairs and I can't carry Eve down/up them. So if I am alone at home with her I can't go out.
Also the hot water pressure is awful so I can barely shampoo my hair. I'm using a tiny dab of shampoo cos I can't get it out of my hair.
Although it's a 2 bed place, the bedrooms are tiny (no room for wardrobes) and the floors are tacky and dirty like they have ripped up a carpet.
There is a creepy loft door in the passageway ceiling, I keep worrying there is someone up there.
We have had to fix up a shower curtain where the kitchen door should be cos it's open plan, which means I am scared to use the oven in case I kill the budgies, so I can only use hob and grill.
I could go on!

Oh my, I would hate that too. With my bad back I couldn't go up and down those stairs either. Keeping my fingers crossed that they hurry up with the work.

Sounds awful, so sorry you’re going through this. Is there any chance of moving again before you can go home? I know that would be awful too moving again, but if remotely possible it might be better?
Can you not ask to be moved because of how it is with a young baby?

How awful for you. I don't know how my daughter does it, she has 10 steps to her front door, 30 stairs to her living room and another 25 to her bedroom, with a 6 month old and a 3 1/2 year old. I'm knackered by time I've been up and down those stairs a few times.
Hope you feel more settled soon. xx

I'd rather not have to move again before we go home! But no, no chance, there is a massive housing shortage, the only reason that we got this flat so quickly is that two people were meant to view it that morning , one of them didn't turn up and the other said that her disabled friend could not cope with the stairs to visit her. Oh that and the Estate manager put a case forward for us cos we both have health conditions (he has asthma a thyroid issue and high blood pressure, I have Pulmonary fibrosis, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, B12 deficiency, anaemia and coeliac disease) and of course a small child. How awful for you. I don't know how my daughter does it, she has 10 steps to her front door, 30 stairs to her living room and another 25 to her bedroom, with a 6 month old and a 3 1/2 year old. Must be fitter than me (or will be with all that exercise!

Poor you Marianne, I feel for you. If it is any consolation you shouldn't go out anyway, you should be self isolating! So no up and down those rotten stairs. Keep your chin up, I know it's hard especially with the restrictions we have no control over.

Keep your chin up, I know it's hard especially with the restrictions we have no control over. I did go out yesterday, mostly for a latte, but also got some food. We ordered asda shopping for this morning and 22 items were not available. I have tried all the supermarkets to get another delivery slot and NONE are available.

I have been self isolating but i heard that Sainsbury's was opening for older and vulnerable people for an hour this morning so I thought I'd give it a go. It was a nightmare. I will stick to the local Co-op for now. At least our local fruit and veg was on and the egg man was there so I'm very happy to live ion egg and chips for the forseeable I am open plan and I do worry about cooking. There is no way I can isolate the kitchen part but I always make sure the extractor fan is on, Bertie's cage is at the other end of the room.

Marianne Marlow have you heard any news about when you'll get back in your place? No, none at all. But seeing as I have had 4 letters from various places telling me that I need to be "shielding" for 12 weeks, not go out or have any contact with anyone outside my household, I am not sure it'll be any time soon.
