Hi everyone,
I’ve just joined this forum due to the fact I am very concerned about my budgies health
A few day’s back I first noticed water was going down a fair bit after topping up, despite him being happy and chirpy.
Today has been different as all day he’s been puffed up trying to sleep, I’ve noticed he’s breathing quite fast but no panting sounds.
Also earlier I noticed that he was non stop yawning like 5 or 6 times back to back.
This is behaviour I have never seen before so as you can understand I am very concerned. I hope someone can give me an insight on what it can be

How old is your budgie? Do you have any photos of him and his cage?

Give him some form of heat, a heat lamp is best, down one end of the cage so that he can move into or out of the heat as he needs. Make sure he is still eating as well, and that he continues to drink. There really is little to be said otherwise. He needs a vet, but that will depend on where you live.

Hi just an update on this, and thanks to all those who replied. I used the list on this website for local avian vets and took him there. They noticed a swelling on his tummy and they kept him in for 4 days. Each of the daily updates has been pure positivity and I now have him home. I’ve been given some antibiotics in a small syringe, I’m quite nervous about handling him in his fragile state.

Glad you got him seen to and that he is recovering at home now. If in doubt, get the vet or assistants to show you how to give him his meds. If you don't do it properly he won't get his full dose and that will hinder his recovery.
