What an amazing, huge creature Hezz. Do you know how long they live?

I didn’t know, M, but apparently the moth stage only lives for about two weeks.

I think moths are beautiful and amazing, but they always seem to get overlooked when compared to butterflies, and they don't live for very long either. I saw a Poplar Hawk-Moth last week on a wall outside.

I agree stevex they do get overlooked and can be quite pretty. I guess it's cos they are unwelcome visitors when they turn up at night and start flapping around the lamps. Sometimes we get a big one in the kitchen and it scares the flippery out of me at night.

I saw a Poplar Hawk-Moth last week on a wall outside. He’s an unusual looking one, stevex. An a sizeable one from my research. I don’t know these so had to look them up.

A Hercules moth came to visit last night. Unfortunately he/she was in rather a tattered state as you can see. Each wing was bigger than my hand, but wouldn’t stay still long enough for me to get a one-handed photo. You can get some sort of perspective of size comparing to the power socket. So soft and so fragile, sorry to see it only at the end of its life. I missed this. What a beautiful moth, he’s huge. Such a shame they have such short lives 🙁
