Remember the carrot top growing experiment? I went to the grocery store and bought some cut peeled heirloom carrots (much to Hezz amusement ) and started rooting them. I was successful with an orange, yellow and brown ones. I planted them outside in my new raised bed garden. Here they are today. I also planted a couple of melon plants which have almost overtaken the bed. A friend stopped by yesterday and I was bemoaning the fact that my guys won't eat the carrot tops (you ungrateful so & so's!) and I have seen lots of flowers on my melon plants but no melons and I LOVE melon. He and I went out to the garden and he pointed out that I have a carrot ready to be harvested. See it in the top right corner? Then he pointed out the melons growing - sorry for the blurry picture. Yes, sometimes I can be blind as a bat! Guess I'm going to have to learn to like carrots. Does anyone know, if I leave it will t continue to grow more carrots or will it die and rot?

You will not get more carrots from your carrot, if that makes sense. You will need to harvest your carrot and replant the top. I have no idea if this can be done continually for the one carrot top or if it will eventually have had enough.
They are healthy looking carrot tops, though. None of my budgies have been interested in them, either. They much prefer the carrot itself.

Thanks Hezz. I'll pull it, chop off the top and root it and try again. As long as I've got the carrot, maybe I'll slice it thin and see if my guys go for it. In the past they've turned their beaks up at carrots.

ladybird, what lovely photos of bees and flowers, wonderful I walked across Tower Bridge yesterday, the sky looked very blue. You can see the Tower of London too. Then I got a latte. One day they'll spell my name right

Great photo Marianne Marlow. Is that the Gherkin on the right of your photo? What are the other two tall modern buildings tucked behind the Tower? It’s frustrating when people can’t get your name right. Do you get a lot of Marian and Marion too?

I can answer Re the gherkin, yes. The one in the middle is nicknamed the walkie talkie building. My office is next door and dwarfed by it. I don’t know the other one

The other pic I took seems to have the shard in it to the left.

Yes, I get all variations that you could think of! You must get some too as your name is not that common. Great photo Marianne Marlow. Is that the Gherkin on the right of your photo?
