Loving the views Marianne Marlow. Our local garden center is advertising that now is the time for a Victory Garden and I see you have a possible spot!

This mornings image from my balcony! Lovely view. I bet you don't often see it as quiet as that.

jellybean growing millet grass from the millet sprays sounds like a great idea. How do you do it? Do I need to soak the sprays first? Thanks!

I love all the new pictures people have posted. The sparrows were waiting in the neighbour's garden while I filled the bird feeders

In the absence of any recent pics (I have no idea where I've filed them!) I'm going with a snowy view taken near our house a couple of years ago.

jellybean growing millet grass from the millet sprays sounds like a great idea. How do you do it? Do I need to soak the sprays first? Thanks! willowsmum, it's easy.... Get a small piece,I cut a whole strand of millet spray into 3 pieces and use 1 piece. Rub it between your hands over a fine sieve until all the millet is off, I then blow the dust and other small particles off until I'm left with the clean millet itself. Take a small plant pot and fill it with compost, then sprinkle the millet on top and water. I water mine morning and night with a fine mist spray bottle. My boys love it.

Thanks jellybean . I will be trying that. I can't get enough veg for myself let alone BertieB, and I have no idea what chemicals have been used on public land. I don't have a garden, so millet grass sounds a great idea.
Edit: Just got my first pot going

Thanks for the directions jellybean, this is becoming the latest fad on this forum! I'll be starting mine in the next day or two. I'm still amazed at how much Buddy likes wheat grass and dill. He will jump on my hand while I'm putting the wheat grass in his cage. Once the millet gets growing, I'll let everyone know how how likes it.

I love all the new pictures people have posted. The sparrows were waiting in the neighbour's garden while I filled the bird feeders While I don't have a photo, and a video would have been needed anyway, I'll share my birdy segment from yesterday with you. As you know, I have a couple of regular cockatoos who visit my feeder and bath, the boy I've named Squeaky as he squeaks at me like an unoiled gate if I haven't put any seed out. Yesterday he turned up, he and his missus, Sneaky (she just appears from nowhere) so he did his squeaky-gate routine a few times. I told him the seed had already been filled, then he YELLED at me for about ten minutes - he was only about a metre away, through my kitchen window, so I went down to the feeder. Well, how dare I? Since the scrub turkey had knocked off and broken the original bowl, I've been using a pot saucer kept in place with a paving brick which I usually put over to one side of the saucer. Yesterday I put in on the other side of the saucer. As soon as I moved the brick to the normal side, Squeaky flew down and go stuck in. Just shows that pedantic behaviour in our pet birds comes from their wild instincts, not learned from us.

Some businesses are trying to figure a way keep things going during the shutdown. My local garden center was open until yesterday and they had managed to adjust things to keep the social distancing. This is prime spring planting season in Southern California. Yesterday they announced they would be open only for delivery or pickup service. Delivery is expensive if you only want a couple plants. This morning I called them. I needed some strawberry plants to refresh my strawberry pots from last year. I also wanted a couple of color bowls to cheer up my front porch. They picked a lovely couple for me. When I pulled up to the store, I called them to tell them I was there, popped my car trunk open and they loaded the stuff inside. All very nice and efficient. As it turns out I was ready to unload my trunk as my mailman was bringing my mail to my house and he graciously carried the color bowls to my porch. So here's my pic for today.
