This morning as I greeted Buddy he jumped to a perch near me and I heard this thunk on the bottom of the cage I looked and it was a big poo about the size of 3 or 4, normal in color with maybe less of the white. Is he constipated, need more water? Any recommendations? We're not having low humidity, just the opposite, we've had rain stores which will continue for another week.

It could simply have been the way that he was sitting/sleeping on the perch that might have caused the poop to not be able to fall away as usual. A one off is nothing to be concerned about but keep check on him over the next 24 hours.

tweetiepiesmom Charlie always has a huge poo landed on the floor in the mornings, they all stick together to form a clump. He does suffer with constipation from time to time. I give him celery on a regular basis which seems to keep this in check. If I think he is constipated I check him over and if need be wash his bum in some warm water, as he is really feathery round there the poos get stuck. He shrieks blue murder, but is always so relieved after the indignation.

Thanks Shirls and Hezz. I've come to the conclusion that it was just a clump on the perch where he was sleeping that fell when he jumped down. Pardon my nervous reaction - Buddy is still so new to me I tend to over react. The little guy is so sweet and calm I just want to make sure he's healthy and enjoying life.

I totally understand you worrying. I have a little worry about anything out of the ordinary since Randolph Carter was ill. Has Buddy ventured out of his cage yet?

Not yet but some of that is my fault because I've been so distracted. I need to carry his cage into the smaller guest bedroom which is bird proof so he can't hurt himself. I will have a good day tomorrow to do it.

I'm sure he is having lots of fun even if he doesn't come out of the cage
