Just had a call from my puppy's vet, he was due to have his stitches out today after major knee surgery where they cut his bone in half and re-positioned it and re-positioned all his tendons. She asked me if I could take the stitches out myself. I am fine with anything like that and quite often do minor thing on the dogs. So I have removed 3 of the stitches and have 3 more to go but he's playing with the other 2 so was a bit distracted and fidgety. I'll get the other 3 later when they settle down for a nap. I always wanted to be a vet.

All stitches removed now. I feel quite proud of myself. Here's the munchkin, Odin, sleeping with his brother, Ursa.

Well done SQ. Amazing what one has to do sometimes with our pets. I've done quite a bit with my chooks vet-wise!! And successfully too.

Well done SQ. Amazing what one has to do sometimes with our pets. I've done quite a bit with my chooks vet-wise!! And successfully too. Yes me too. Over the years I have done lot's of different things for various animals. Started when I was a kid and we had a cat who got abscesses from fighting. We didn't use vets back then so I used to drain and bathe the abscesses myself, must have been 14 or 15 years old. At least in future I won't need to take any of them to the vet for stitch removal, saves that hassle.

Same here. It has only been with the birds that I've needed a vet for emergency, luckily, and those odd bits of surgery that dogs have to have. That was until we had mental health issues ... dog, of course.
