I have two budgies, just got them recently. They’re both very wild, they don’t like being handled and don’t like coming out of the cage even when I leave the door open for them. One is over a year old. He was very vocal but recently he is quieter and more lethargic. He sits with his eyes shut for long periods. He’s also started regurgitating or vomiting seeds. Whole seeds come out with a lot of saliva. We’ve also Noticed a bit of blood around his bottom. He’s also become very docile now and lets us pick him up, and his breathing seems laboured. What could it be? I want to take him to the vet but with the current situation I wanted to ask advice here first. I am a novice bird owner. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it would be best if you took him to a vet immediately if you can considering the current situation.
Am sorry to say but it doesn't sound good, especially because of the blood near his vent. Is it in his poops as well?
And as for him vomiting, does he spray his seed everywhere or is he just regurgutating it? Are they whole undigested seeds? Does the vomit smell? How recently did this start?
Reason for all the questions as this is something you will need to tell the vet to try and get an accurate diagnosis.
Would receommend you seperate him from the other bird too as things like this are usually contagious.
In my limited experience, this sounds like either Tricho or Avian Gastric Yeast to me. As for the blood it could come from his feathers but if it is coming from his vent then it is an internal issue which could be a multitude of things.
Please take him to a vet if you can

He definitely needs a vet, as soon as possible.
