So my budgie Kiwi has abandonded me. He is difficult to get out of his cage. And since its so difficult to get him out I take him out less and less. I also have a female, since I got her Kiwi has shown no interest in me. I am having difficulty gaining her trust and its very discouraging. What should I do so that I can let Kiwi fly around the house again and hopefully someday have him joined by a tamed Coconut?

Hi, I have a couple(9)of birds. Nearly all my birds(4) I should say are just fearful of me. It's so frustrating when you are the one who looks after them for years(me). When the birds get into a flock they copy the others and it's almost impossible to form a proper bond. The best thing to do would be to try and get the bird one on one. I know this can be difficult. I have a parrot cage for my birds and trying to get some of them out can be a challenge, as they cling to the bars as far away as they can get. Make sure you have the millet ready and be prepared to wait for a good while. The introduced potential mate will no doubt make it even more difficult. They no longer need the human as they have each other. Some one on one time and trust building is all I can suggest. I have tried lots of times with my birds but sometimes they can't forget what ever bad past experience they've had. I'm second owner with most of them. Here's an idea why don't you breed the birds look after them and get an in with the babies at an early stage. I've recently done this and only got one chick but the bond and curiosity of the little one is magic. He has no fear like the parents
