I've been lurking here drooling in envy over all the beautiful things the talented people are making. I don't have any real talent but I do like to knit. I finally finished this lap blanket. Its not very difficult, just a combination of knit stitches and slip stitches. The yarn colors are grey and charcoal grey which looking at picture makes it look like it has holes in it. I made it because I was curious about the yarn. Having knitted this, I'll never use that yarn again! It is an acrylic yarn, very soft and fluffy but has no give to it so it was difficult to knit with. "No real talent" what are you on about TPM ?? You are very clever to be able to knit and it's such an effective pattern. It looks like it will be lightweight but still soft and snuggly, perfect!

Thank you samwiseg! Its not very complicated, uses two bulky yarns and is a combination of knit stitches and slip stitches. You carry both yarns up the side and switch colors every two rows. It was a free pattern so if you are interested I can give you the pattern.

Nice masks blue48 and its going to be a lovely bedspread. We've been wearing masks long enough now that they are becoming a fashion accessory! I see people matching them to their outfit -maybe that's just a California thing.

I don't actually wear the ones I made, they are too hot. I bought some black stretchy ones that are far more comfortable. They also match my handbag

Wow that bedspread looks like a LOT of work, blue48 - very nice. I am more of a crocheter than a knitter and have started a blanket for a friend who has recently had to move into a care home. I have tried a smaller version of this hexagon pattern and am going bigger with this one. Sewing in ends is a bit of a drag though. I am planning to try that mask design you linked me to today.

It is crocheted birdguhl It's a drunken granny stitch. I can knit but it triggers my carpal tunnel so quickly I sadly don't do it any more. Oddly I can crochet with no problems.
Love the hexagons. I made my mum a patchwork of granny squares. I did many of them while I sat by her hospital bed and she never got to use it. I still have it, tucked away in the top of my wardrobe.

Oh - that shows how much I know! . I have never heard of that stitch - it looks very nice - quite dense so it must use up a lot of yarn! Carpal tunnel - that's no fun but thank goodness you can crochet. I would hate to have to give it up but I have had to reduce the amount of crocheting and computer work I do as last I got the 'neuropathic' tendonitis in my right elbow which is really because of doing too much on computer - I badly irritated nerve that supplies whole arm. It is much better now but I quickly get warning signs if I do too much.

Those crocheted hexagons are lovely birdguhl, such nice colors! It will make up into a beautiful bedspread. I hear what you say about weaving the ends in, not my favorite task either!

There's a great indoor market a short drive from me with loads of handicraft stalls and great prices.
