Wow I am not surprised it made you emotional, it makes her look so fragile. Brought a tear to my eye too.

Not much to a budgie once you take away the feathers. As you say, fascinating for sure. Such tiny, tiny bones.

I'm so glad that Sky is home and settled so well. I hope you all had a restful night and that she continues to get stronger each day, bless her.

Hi all Sky slept well last night and has had a good day. Her breathing is still not 100% and at times seems a little forced but then that is why she is still on the abx and anti inflammatory. She’s still fairly quiet and more sleepy than usual but I guess it’s no surprise as she’s still recovering. I’m still in touch with the vet and she did mention about putting Sky in the bathroom after I’ve had my bath/shower so that’s what we did today. Both of them fell asleep cracking their beaks in the bathroom! Sky has also had cucumber for the first time today and loved it (I will limit that to twice a week though as I know it’s quite watery). She had some apple too. Sol is too busy talking to even notice fruit/veg and he’s scared of it so it’s a bit of a nightmare. I need him to lose weight too as he’s 67g and Sky is 50g, but I don’t know how to entice him as he just freaks out at any of the food I offer. I did see someone mention about figuring out what time(s) are their feeding times and to give them fruit/veg first before they get to the seed pot. If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated! Hope you all have a nice weekend and can enjoy some of the sun xx

I'm pleased the birdies enjoyed their steam session. It does seem to help Misty when I give him one as well, although I usually put him into a smaller cage and have a bowl of hot water outside it, then wrap the whole lot up in a blanket and/or towel, to keep the steam in. For food, you could try something else similar to what I do for my two tubby boys. They get locked out of their cage for the day, and only have access to seeding grass and any fresh veg that I might give them. They have water, of course, but no access to their seed pot until it is time to go home for bed. I can't say it has worked terribly well for me because they simply toddle over to Loki's cage and scavenge about on the floor or dive into his seed pot. If I catch them, I do cover the pot, but then I have to uncover it for Loki and so we go around again. Sol won't have that option, so it might work for you. My boys have had two straight weeks in the aviary and that seems to have worked some small miracle - both birds back weighing in the mid-40's this morning, yay.

I thought you’d all appreciate a video of Sky who’s almost back to her normal self.... (still not as talkative and not 100% on the breathing front but her eating is going well and she seems much happier to be home, unless she sees this bowl! ).
