Its a crappy story of person selling me a5 week old weaned bird only to get home and know something fishy was going on when she was crusted in formula. So I took her home and researched her age. She looks like 25...27 days? I have a Vet appt tomorrow for it and I'm giving it formula exclusively cause it didn't look like she really knew how to eat seed. If she is 5 weeks she's under devloped...so I feel kinda like I rescued her? Anyhoo....thank the lord....

Do you have any millet spray you could give?
Glad you're getting the little one checked by a vet.
Bit of a poor show from the breeder selling this little bird far too early.

Yep, millet was the first thing given. She picks it, mouths it, bit doesn't de-husk and sorta just let's it roll out of the mouth.

Could you maybe try a boiled egg, (boiled for 20 minutes) give a little of that, mainly the yolk and a little white and mash it up really fine.
This might tempt him.

Possibly a hen, bit too young to tell for me.
Let us know how you get on at the vet.

Yay! Got the A OK at the Vet. I am so glad I am a mom and a nurse and I knew what to do. I've never hand fed a baby bird before. But the Vet said im doing good. She is well hydrated and I'm not terribly over feeding her. Maybe by 1ml. But for the most part he was happy with my abilities, especially for only having her at a young age. The Vet said she's approx 4 weeks. Still has sheath on alllllllll of her wing feathers and her tail feathers are stumps. She still needs to grow in the feathers on her crop. But all in all a healthy baby. NOW I CAN SLEEP. Lol. So I have 2 more weeks of formula hand feeding then I can start to wean.
The Vet did not want to guess sex tho...but kept calling her she? He told me if it gets wrinkled and brown it's a hen? Oh well... I'll find out eventually right?
