Hello everyone. I've always been a huge fan of incense smoke, and of course I had to stop burning the sticks once I got my budgie. Considering the fact he likes it when I bring his cage to another room, do you think it's okay if I burn a stick of incense with my window open while he's in another room, wait one hour to clean the air, then bring him back in? Or is it too risky and dumb?

My recommendation would be to keep the area where your bird spends most of his time a "smoke-free" zone. Better safe than sorry when it comes to the health of your bird.
Do you have any friends who like incense? Perhaps you could enjoy it at their place, away from the bird's environment.

It's a definite no to incense, air fresheners, scented candles, plug-ins or anything like that. They just aren't compatible with budgies.

Allow me to add to the comments. Incense is a "heavy" fragrance and will get in your clothes and linger for a long time. A few years ago I was helping at my church during Christmas. My task was to make sure the incense burner was hot and to put the incense in when needed. A couple hours later after everything was cleaned up a friend and I went to see a movie. At one point he said I smelled like "church". If you do go a friends to enjoy the incense, as soon you get home, change your clothes before you greet and play with your budgie.

I knew incense was strong but I had no idea it came to that, thank you so much for the warning.
