I am still shaking a bit after this incident. Perry appears to be okay now, he is sitting & preening.
He fell off the perch (this happens occasionally as he has a little lump) so I wasn't too concerned & just checked that he got back up okay. Sometimes he waits for me to go over as he knows I'll give him a lift back up (he's a little lazy too!)
Anyway, he fell again, moments later which was odd so I went over & about 3 or 4 times he seemed to twitch & uncontrollably jump off the perch (hence falling). The last fall he started making a strange squeaking sound. As I was concerned he would hurt himself (cage floor is already padded, but he was flailing about a bit) I quickly put him in the travel cage, but he was stressed in there & though he was jumping & climbing about it was more stress-related than involuntary. I decided to put him back in with Lennie, where he has calmed down. He has stretched both wings out, lifted a foot to preen (i.e., balanced fine on one foot) & pooped but has not moved from the perch yet.
Does anyone have any thoughts? Stroke? Seizure?
I am going to dust off the quarantine cage & put them in that. It is similar width to their cage but not as high.
I had all the seizure worry with Bezukhov. It's awful just watching & waiting for the next episode...

Oh dear. Am sorry about this sweetpea, I really don't know, it could be either I suppose? Think this is something that only the vet can answer really. Good that the floor was padded though. Is your vet available for either Skype or phone consultations?

This sounds similar to the seizures Jerry had. We thought it may have been liver issues. I guess a vet visit might be in order for poor Perry

Poor little lad. It must be very worrying for you. I hope you get some advice from the vet and it's not too serious.

Is your vet available for either Skype or phone consultations? Yes, the vet can do video consultations & can even park her mobile van outside so a consultation/visit will not be a problem (money might be!) I find in these kind of situations, unless the vet does extensive (invasive?) tests, the cause is rarely known so there's a lot of guesswork, albeit educated. The padded floor is great!

We thought Bezukhov seizures were linked to his liver, though his were different to Perry's. They have milk thistle in their water daily, but are both overweight so a liver problem may still be possible.

Perry has been fine. If I had not seen it with my own eyes I would have no indication that it happened. He has been a bit quiet but it has been hot in here today, so they are not very active.

I hope Perry stays well. It's been so hot today that I had to lock the budgies in for several hours to air the place, having windows open.
If we'd been in our own home we'd have had the windows open all day as we have budgie screens that we made. Such a pain.

Poor Perry. I hope he's ok. So scary. What do you use to pad the floor?

I sometimes lock mine in during the day so I can open the windows & air the room, but in this hot weather opening the windows doesn't seem to make any difference. Keeping the blinds down & closed helps a little with keeping the heat down.

Poor Perry. I hope he's ok. So scary. What do you use to pad the floor? I currently have a folded towel on top of the grid with the layers of paper on top. Alternatively, I also use a couple of layers of fleece.
