The vet was asking many questions about Perry's 'turns', if I recall, questions like: Was he aware of his surroundings during it/them. Did his head turn in a circle or to one side? If to the side, which side? Was it always the same side? Did he poop or vomit during the incident?
It's worth bearing in mind if you are faced with something similar.

Poor Perry, I was hoping that he'd be a little better. Good that he's done a dropping now though. When Jerry had seizures, he did turn in a circle, flapping and making this horrid intermittent, short, high pitched noise. He ended up paralysed, unable to eat or drink and I had to have him pts

Thanks for the advice sweetpea. I really hope little Perry starts to pull through this soon. Marianne Marlow that's terrible for you and Jerry. It's so awful to see them in distress and be unable to make it all better

Perry's temperature is back to normal! So relieved. I still need to give him the medication tomorrow to be on the safe side & he's still on the anti-B's. Vet said it may take him a few days to recover as the high temperature would have put a strain on his body. It's possible the temperature has nothing to do with his 'turns', but it obviously needed to be taken care of. A possibility is that his lump pushes on a nerve that triggers the 'turn'. At best, the 'turns' are caused by an infection in the kidney that is pumping out toxins, in which case the anti-Bs would sort it out.
Both have also had the mite treatment today (another precaution for Lennie).

That sounds so much better sweetpea. You have an excellent avian vet so your budgies are getting the best possible care between the vet and you. Poor little Perry will have to put up with the meds and indignity of being caught but then he'll be all better. Hang in there Perry!

Very promising. He must feel so much better with no temp.
Onwards and upwards

Thank you for all your good wishes!
Both Perry & Lennie were very, very quiet after the vet went. I have been more worried about Lennie this evening as he has barely eaten. I am hoping that tomorrow, without a stressful vet visit, will restore some normality, some appetite & some noise.

She is certainly very knowledgeable & has a genuine interest in & love for birds. The major indignity is definitely the temperature test!

When Jerry had seizures, he did turn in a circle, flapping and making this horrid intermittent, short, high pitched noise. He ended up paralysed, unable to eat or drink and I had to have him pts Perry made a horrible sound too, but did not do the circling but rather went off to the side. I think even the direction can indicate something specific but I was so stressed myself that I couldn't remember if he was veering off to the same side each time. Certainly its a very distressing thing to witness & the vet said there's really nothing you can do at the time apart from make sure they don't land in water or injure themselves in any other way. Poor Jerry & how horrible for you to have to make that decision even though it was clearly the humane thing to do.
