I suggest you back up a bit and find a bit more patience. You need to allow the bird to develop some trust towards you and that does not happen overnight. With some budgies it can take a long time. Be very patient and do not try to rush anything, all your bird to progress (or not) at its own pace. Two months is not very long. Don't lose faith, but continue to work with the bird each and every day as many times a day as you can, only for short sessions at a time. There is no time-frame to work towards but don't expect miracles and you won't be disappointed.

I'm going to join in this topic if I may. My new little chap is the same. He's as tame as can be, but refuses point blank to step on my finger for more than a split second. I have a twig which he'll get on without any trouble, and if he's really interested in what I'm saying to him, I can get him to transfer from the twig to my finger, but that's quite rare. He's still only about 11 weeks old, so I'm hoping things will get better with time. Will yours step up on a twig or dowell?

My boy will step up quite happily in his cage but he won't allow me to bring him out of his cage on my finger. He will with a dowel perch though (see taxi stick ) They all have their own quirks. BertieB isn't scared of my hands and will clamber from a toy onto my hand and then climb up my arm to my shoulder to get to my necklace, which he loves to play with. Buds gotta do what they gotta do.
