So for the past few months I've been trying to tame my two budgie. I've been using millet sort and holding one end so the boys can feed on the other and get as close or far away as they want.
Ali is taking to this well and generally comes up to the millet when I present it in their cage but Sky isn't as brave and is very hesitant. Neither have really come into my hand yet although Ali seems intrigued.
Today Sky flew out of the cage when I opened one of the doors to do some taming and he is obviously nowhere near tamed yet so didn't come to me. He flew into a window a few times and I had to catch him by putting a towel over him and carrying him back to the cage.
I'm now really scared this could have been traumatizing and cause more difficulties in the future for taming. I am their second owner as they had to be rehomed through no fault of their own as their previous owner got really sick after a short while of having them.
PLEASE give help and training tips of I am doing anything wrong.

Work with them often and for short periods of time, no more than 10-15 minutes at a time. It is often the case that the hen will be more timid or wary than the male. Just take it quietly and calmly, talk to them a lot and allow them to build up trust in their own time. The bonding process cannot be hurried.

Thanks, they are both males however Ali is the more dominant out of them. Thanks for the 10-15 mins tip, I'll start using that.
