Since I moved Siri's cage closer to Max & Jesse's, 3 days ago, Siri's not been out of his cage. He's gone berserk every morning wanting to be with them so I moved his cage slightly so it faces Max & Jesse's directly instead of side-on. This morning he was out like a rocket this morning & into their cage pronto. Max & Jesse have welcomed him with tentative beak kisses, chirrups and sitting beside him. Max has been beside Siri for about 10 minutes quietly chuntering to Siri, preened Siri's cheek & nuzzled his beak. Siri doesn't seem to know how to respond. 10 out of 10 to Max, he's not giving up!

I'm at a loss as to how to help Siri to socialise with Jess & Max better, he loves being in their cage during the day. It didn't work him spending the night with them. So far, he justs sits & watches the other two wherever he is - in their cage, in his own cage close by & together outside their cages (about 8 hours daily). He tolerates close interaction for a short time then becomes very hostile. It's one way, too, Jess & Max are really bromantic with him. My latest idea came from a post on here about the cat water fountain, one's arriving tomorrow. One activity they all enjoy & join in with is a spray bath/spinach bath so I figure if they all get together for a pool party it might just be something he feels ok to join in with - a shared activity could be the key to bringing him out of his shell so to speak. It seem strange, I can't figure why Siri is unable to socialise. DeeDee asked me if he was an autistic budgie the other day & she's not far off the mark - the similarities, wanting to be with other birds but clueless as to interaction skills. Has anyone else ever come across something like this behaviour? Is Siri too traumatised to learn? Any suggestions? Anyway, I'm letting him lead.

Siri's progressing really well, he's... a broccoli & spinach addict spending most of his time with Jesse & Max, both in their cage & out flap-hopping about a 50cm & from height onto a padded landing climbing around his cage, up & down ladders like an avian sherpa (Chirper?) hates anything that moves under-claws - swings & ropewalks stopped screeching beginning to interact with me & DeeDee - no biting foraging & chewing toys/perches been taken under Max's wing (Jesse's so full of himself he hasn't noticed saying a few words & R2D2 sounds chuntering almost non-stop A few pics: Max having a chirp with Siri ("You're part of our flock now, lad..." Budgie territory First time Siri perched outside Max & Jesse's cage (this morning) 100% cute (and he know's it!)
Which ends this blog on a good note - things have worked out well with Siri, life is moving into calmer seas & I can resume life

So glad it’s worked out. They’re no different to us where you get some who find it hard to integrate, initially and those that don’t.

Has Max lost his head? I settled down on the sofa for a nap & had an eerie "I'm being watched feeling", peeping out of a half-closed eye to check on the totally silent budgies (!) not far from my head, I saw what looked like a close encounter of the bird kind...

I know the feeling. Even when he's chattering and sleepy he's often peeping out of one eye. (Lol, almost an unfortunate typo there. I typed 'peeing out of one eye)

Further to being watched, I got my own back earlier... Sorry it's a bit dark, I've had to leave the "curtains" down as passing birds freak Siri out & his squawking is ear-piercing

A stunning sunset viewed from my balcony yesterday. The buds' cages are now joined with a connecting "door", it was hilarious last night watching them decide which cage they wanted to be in. At one point all 3 of them were trying to get from one cage to the other and a beak war broke out over who was going in first.
