I found a budgie in my garden, and despite searching the internet, the vet, the pet shop, the local bird association etcetera, I was unable to trace the owner. We decided to keep the budg hie, bought all the supplies and try to tame him or her. I don't know what his/her age and gender are, so I hope someone can help me with that.

Definitely a little girl! So happy you found her and gave her a home. Someone else may be able to help with the age. What do you think you'll name her? Do come back and let us know how you both are doing. We love pictures, so post them too!
She is developing a bit of a temper, so it makes sense she could be a girl. We haven't decided on a name yet, because we didn't know the gender. It was nice to take her picture, so I'll definitely post new pictures soon!
Thanks for the quick response. To know she is an adult female is great. Now we can figure out what to name her. And if she is tame enough, we'll probably try to find a friend for her so she's not alone. I understand two females is a receipt for trouble, so this information will be very helpful by then.

Give her a bit of time to settle in and get used to you and your family before you get her a friend. Yo may find that she's so tame and people oriented that she doesn't need a friend. The first budgie my family had was like that. He adjusted so well to our life pattern. He napped while we were at school and played with us when we got home until we all went to bed. Such a great family pet! Let us know how you're doing, what her name is and we love pictures!
Thanks for the advise. We are not planning to get a friend very soon, but when the corona virus is under control, we are probably not at home every day, as we do now, and then it is probably nicer to have a friend.
