Hello,
I have an issue with my budgie and I would like some help if possible.
I have 2 budgies, (1 male 1 female) It all started before almost 2 months ago, where my female budgie started vomiting and sleeping more than usual. I took her to the closest avian vet immediately and run her through some checks. (Fyi the tests she did were, a test of their poop, and also she took a sample from her throat). The results where clean, doctor didn't find any issue and suggested to provide a medicine called " Primperan/ Metoclopramide" for 4 days and to put "anti - stress" into their water.
After that, she looked a lot better till now, but her sleeping shedule was still longer than what she usually used to sleep. Also, I really cant describe it, but it looked like she was still being bothered by something and was doing a strange movement (like when they try to adjust their food, but it was more often than usual).
In the meantime, I changed all of their perks/ toys to avoid any issue of rust or something that I couldn't see.
What happened, is that before 4-5 days, I noticed another vomiting incident, so I decided to change the cage as well, just in case.
Since yesterday (when I changed the cage), my female budgie most of the time during the day seems to putting her head on the back and sitting there, sometimes sleeping as well. Today, whole day see looked extremely tired and when the noon hits, she went super active and started digging in her food bowl like crazy, but she wasn't really eating (yesterday she ate).
I called my avian doctor and he suggested me to give her food by syringe if I wasn't sure she was eating, but since she is not tamed I think I only add to her stress.
The issue is that I am starting to get really worried, since we cannot find the cause of this. Does any know if this latest behavior could be related to stress of changing their cage? Also, is it normal for a budgie to change sleeping behavior and be normal?
is there any chance that she might refuse to eat until it is fatal, even though the food is the same?
Do you think I should also visit another avian vet? Or maybe does anyone have any idea/suggestion about this whole situation? I am desperate so any ideas are welcome.
