Hello guys. I’m new to this forum and also new to budgie owning. I found a cute little blue male budgie while on a bike trail - it came right to me. He seemed hungry and like he didn’t belong so I got ahold of him and took him home. I searched online to see if this little budgie belonged to anyone in the area. I found no posts for a few days following and checked all posts dated over the last couple of months with no luck. I decided to take the little fella in. I’ve been building trust with him and he lets me palm feed him. I’ve had him exactly a week today but I can’t help but feel he is ill. He isn’t very active, he barely makes noise, closes his eyes occasionally through the day, sometimes I find him panting, and he doesn’t play or jump around in his birdie cage, and he will only eat the white millets in his birdie feed (Hasn’t eaten any fruits or veggies that I’ve tried to mix in with his seed. He stays on his swing perch pretty much all day. I’m worried about him but I’m not sure if it’s because he’s new and adjusting/adapting or if it’s because something is wrong with him. I’m new to all this and would appreciate some help in this department. Should I get him another parakeet friend? Would this correct the problem? If he was out in the wild is it possible he picked something up? The sooner the better. I have a video of his breathing/behavior.

I would agree that it sounds like something could be wrong. I would recommend taking him to an avian vet for a full checkup as soon as you can.
We can't really help with medical problems beyond encouraging you to seek professional help if what you are seeing looks serious. The vet can do more tests and provide better advice. Budgies are usually perky and talkative little birds. From what you have described, he could be feeling ill or stressed.
