Weighing every day is not helpful unless the birds have been ill. Make a time once a week, perhaps cage cleaning time, and weigh them then, at the same time of the day. The actual weight is not so important as the trend. If you weigh them every day you are going to see a small shift up and down which will only stress you more. Even a shift up or down of a gram or two from week to week isn't necessarily of concern, again it is the trend that you need to focus on. One measurement that doesn't fit the trend is something to watch but not something to act on.

Ack, you're right. I know in my rational head they are actually really healthy, happy, and very tame little buggers especially for just being 5-6 months..
Guess I never got what happened to the first one out of my fear-brain. I also "know" that wasn't my fault, but.. bleah. That vet claimed she was really super thin and I'll always wonder if she *rapidly* lost weight on my watch, came that way, or if he was just saying nonsense since he clearly didn't know budgies.
I do ignore the daily ups and downs to focus on the weekly averages, but I should let it go more. I don't trust myself to rely on the keel bone, but they're not going to forget how to hop on the t perch for me after a week. -_-
