We've bought the budgies a new play/spare cage. It's a Savic Primo 50 Cage, and the measurements are: 65 x 38 x 56.5 cm Quite large but not as large as the large Hagen vision cage that it is replacing. Just arrived via amazon (we only ordered it yesterday too) so haven't put it together yet! I won't be setting it up like the photo though!!

I like that Marianne. I was looking at it the other day, along with a medium size Hagen Vision. The Hagen Vision was on Amazon Warehouse and reduced because of a 'cosmetic imperfection'. By the time I made my mind up to get it, it had gone

That's a shame. The Hagen visions are good but they are so expensive now. Mine are more than 10 years old so I am replacing them. I like that Marianne. Marianne Marlow , those thinks are just leading to the Zooplus main page but I think I can find the cages you are talking about. I definitely found the Ferplast, looked at the same on Ebay. Was the Hagen Vision the large model? There really is no reason to buy another cage, because the door is open all day, and he has the run of the place, but it's this one: www.amazon.co.uk/Yaheetech-Canary-Parakeet-Cockatiel-Budgie/dp/B07JVSMGZ6/ref=lp_471269031_1_9?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1595007293&sr=1-9Not very pretty and now I know it is the wrong shape. I would just keep it as a spare.
The only thing that puts me off the Hagen Vision are the horizontal bars all round, and the water container he is used to drinking from wouldn't fit. He couldn't seem to get the hang of drinking from a bottle. I'm trying the bottle again, with a second source of water, but I've put the bottle where his fountain was and I'm watching and waiting. If he learns to drink from the bottle I'll but a medium Hagen Vision.

Oh that is odd, yes it was the large hagen vision.
My lot are out all day long too, but they do enjoy going to other areas to explore, such as a spare cage, just to hang out and sometimes sleep during the day.
They did have a taller cage that they loved to play in but I had to throw it away as I was frightened that my daughter would pull it over.

I like the cage you just got Marianne Marlow but glad that you are not setting it up as in the picture - seems a bit sparse.

The Hagen Vision (medium) is in my Amazon basket. I'm assuming when you get a budgie a new cage, you leave them in their old one until they've got used to the new one, played on it and been in voluntarily? Just waiting on the bottle test.

I've got the large Hagen Vision cage that I use as a spare, that's the one Sam was in when in quarantine.
After being so used to the Hamberley, unclipping the base of the Hagen and having to put the top somewhere else until you changed the paper and cleaned the base used to do my head in.
Good cage though, just that one niggle.
Like the new one you've bought Marianne.

I bought a Savic for Bailey. I think they’re really good for the money

I've never actually transferred budgies from an old cage into a new one. I don't think I have anyway. But if you have space to have both cages out at once then yes you could have the old and new out together, so they get used to the new one. The Hagen Vision (medium) is in my Amazon basket. I'm assuming when you get a budgie a new cage, you leave them in their old one until they've got used to the new one, played on it and been in voluntarily? Just waiting on the bottle test.

Well we've set up the new cage with a few perches and things. I am awaiting my rope perches that are coming tomorrow, also I am going to change the perches for some Y branches that were in the hagen vision when I have cleaned them. I have stripped it bare (3 shelves, 3 Y perches and 1 mirror)and we're throwing it away. Shame it has to go as it kind of feels like I am saying goodbye to Hector all over again But we bought it in 2009, the other one has to go too when we can afford to replace it. £100 is quite a lot to shell out! To note, the perches that come with the savic 50 are rubbish, they are wooden dowels that have a plastic bit on the end, I tried to put one in and it almost broke the bars, so I am temporarily using some cheap plastic ones I bought on ebay as spares. Here is what the cage currently looks like, so far, no brave soul has gone near
